West Coast forward Colin McMaster played his sole Test for New Zealand at the 1968 World Cup - five years after touring Australia with the Kiwis.

McMaster represented West Coast against Australia as a 21-year-old in 1961 and played for his province and a New Zealand XIII against Great Britain in 1962.

Earning Kiwis selection in 1963, he made six minor tour appearances in Australia - scoring tries against Southern Division and Toowoomba - as a second-rower and centre.

McMaster also turned out for South Island against South Africa later in 1963, while he was a mainstay of the West Coast pack for clashes with touring teams France (1964), Australia (1965) and Great Britain (1966 and 1970).

Recalled for the 1968 World Cup, McMaster featured at prop in New Zealand's 38-14 loss to Great Britain at the SCG.

McMaster played his club football for Brunner and Suburbs, and later served as WCRL president during the 1990s.
