Irish-born three-quarter Jim Gilmour represented New Zealand in Australia in 1911 and 1912 - after playing against the tourists for Queensland.Gilmour ventured to North Sydney alongside fellow future Kiwi, Canterbury's Billy Mitchell, in 1911 and played one first-grade match. He was subsequently drafted into the Queensland team to play three games against the visiting New Zealand side, scoring three tries in a 23-13 win.He then joined New Zealand for its last two tour matches, scoring two tries and kicking three goals in a 40-8 win over Hunter, and landing two goals in a 39-7 loss to NSW.Returning to Wellington, Gilmour toured Australia with the 1912 New Zealand team and scored a try in the tour-opening loss to NSW and in a 15-8 win over Queensland. Later that year he turned out for Wellington against the touring NSW side.Gilmour served in World War I with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force but died of pneumonia in England in 1918.
