Huge Wellington forward Whetu Henry represented New Zealand in 1977-78.
From the Marist club and later Eastern Suburbs, Henry represented Wellington against Great Britain in 1974 and Wales in 1975. He played for a New Zealand XIII against Combined Sydney in 1976 - as close to a Kiwis team fielded that year with no internationals scheduled.
The 26-year-old received his first Kiwis call-up for the 1977 World Cup, lining up at prop in the losses to Australia and Great Britain - both alongside younger brother Whare - and the win over France.
Henry played 12 games on the 1978 tour of Australia and Papua New Guinea but made only one Test appearance, coming off the bench in the 38-7 loss to Australia at Lang Park in the second clash.
The enforcer later represented Wellington against the 1979 Lions and Central Districts against the 1980 Australian tourists.
