Morgan Hayward was part of New Zealand's squad that toured Australia in 1912, alongside his older brother, dual international Harold.
The Thames rugby union player (Goldfields subunion of Auckland) switched codes and played five matches for New Zealand on the 1912 tour, featuring in one win over NSW and two victories against Queensland. The front-rower also scored a try in the tour-closing defeat to NSW.
Later that year, Hayward represented Auckland twice against NSW and was part of New Zealand's pack for the 18-10 one-off loss to the tourists, tangling with the likes of Frank Burge and Billy Cann.
The 23-year-old played for New Zealand once more, in the first match against the visiting NSW team - a 33-19 loss.
Hayward later served as president of Thames Rugby Union for 22 years.
