Ponsonby United half Frank Halloran represented New Zealand in the 1937 Test series against Australia.

Former of the Northcote & Birkenhead Ramblers club, Halloran joined Ponsonby United in 1934 and debuted for Auckland in 1936.

The 24-year-old won the New Zealand halfback spot to take on Australia in 1937, with the tourists winning the first Test 12-8 and the home side taking out the second 16-15.

Halloran returned to Northcote in 1938 and later served in World War II.
