Mt Wellington utility Barrie Dyer was part of the Kiwis’ 1975 World Championship Series squad, making three appearances in minor tour matches in Australia.

Dyer featured at loose forward in Auckland’s 11-2 victory over the 1974 Great Britain tourists. Chosen for the initial part of the Kiwis’ World Championship Series foray the following season, he debuted off the bench against North Queensland, kicked two goals from fullback in a win over Northern Division and reverted to lock in a losing effort against North Coast.

Despite representing Auckland against visiting France – scoring a try in a 9-3 win – and Australia later in 1975, but there was no place for him in the New Zealand squad for the second half of the World Championship Series campaign.
