Taurehere

Forty-two rising rugby league stars based in Australia are proudly named in the New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) teams to face off against each other in a one-off match in Gold Coast, Australia this weekend.

Part of the recently relaunched Taurehere programme, the under 17 players from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria will come together for a three-day camp, with former Kiwis Issac Luke, Brent Webb, Bronson Harrison, Matt Duffie and others involved as mentors.

Former Rugby League World Cup winners Stephen Kearney and Nathan Cayless are also involved, both part of the strategy to connect more Australian-based talent to their New Zealand heritage and the black jersey.
