Position Description

Rugby League Northland Zone (RLN), is an incorporated society responsible for the sport in Northland.  This includes responsibilities for club competitions, representative teams and ensuring coaches and managers, trainers, referees and volunteers are supported.  RLN supports local and representative competitions, premier and junior teams and clubs as well delivering programmes in primary, intermediate and secondary schools within the region.

Ideal Applicants

Due to a number of board member retirements, RLN is seeking to appoint three new board members, which will see the Board at seven.  The successful applicants will play a key role in  supporting the continued growth and development of Rugby League in Northland.

RLN is looking for applicants with skills and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Financial / commercial / business skills.
  • Funding expertise
  • Understanding of local government
  • Prior governance experience gained from a sports of voluntary organisation
  • Knowledge of and experience in the sport of Rugby League

  • Desire to build the sport in the community
  • Strategic and innovative thinking
  • A diversity and inclusion focus
  • Understanding and appreciation of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Sport sector knowledge and experience.
