Reon Edwards

Reon Edwards has a strong commercial background and is currently general manager/director of an international freight forwarding & logistics business. He has also held several directorships, including positions on the board of Ngai Tahu Tourism and Ngai Tahu Seafood. Reon is a former Canterbury Maori and junior representative, who has served three years as Canterbury Rugby League’s chairman and six years on the Southern Zone board. His involvement in rugby league spans more than 35 years. John Bishop

A director on the previous NZRL board, John Bishop is a qualified accountant with a strong business background in the finance and insurance sectors. He is an Institute of Directors-accredited director, with governance skills and experience on a number of boards in the not-for-profit and commercial sectors. 2008-present: NZRL board member 2008-present: Board of Rugby League International Federation & the Rugby League World Cup 2013. 2010-13: Trustee, League 4 Life Trust Board 2006-present: Various directorships, including KCL Property Group, Insurance Holdings (Fiji), International Cargo Systems, Mercy Hospice, Kristin School, Storelink Sales, Quantum Funding PTY, Cleeve Transport Group and Reclaim Limited 2003-07: CEO, executive director of a large import distribution business. 1993-2003: Various roles with ASB Bank, including commercial and business banking general manager, and as such, part of the executive management team.

Hugh Martyn

Hugh Martyn, a Christchurch based Director is the current Chairman of City Care Ltd. Martyn transitioned from a role as company lawyer into management in the 1990’s and has held a number of senior management roles since. During this time he has held other Directorships and bring significant high level business experience to the Board.

Tawera Nikau

See Bio

Tawera Nikau (Kiwi #614) is literally a legend of NZ rugby league, having been inducted into the NZRL Legends of League in 2008. That recognition capped a playing career that saw him play 19 tests for the Kiwis (1989-97) and captain the NZ Maori at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. Nikau played professionally in both England and Australia, helping Castleford to Regal Trophy knockout honours in 1994 and winning an NRL premiership with Melbourne Storm in 1999. Soon after retiring, he lost a leg in a motorcycle accident, but has continued to contribute to the game as a coach, administrator, commentator and selector. Nikau was the inaugural coach of the Wai-Coa-Bay Stallions in the national competition, as well as the NZ Maori team. He has been part of the Maori TV commentary team and served on the Upper Central Zone board. A current NZ Kiwis selector, he is also chief executive of Aotearoa Construction and owner/managing director of Team One Corporate Development, a training company.

Elizabeth Richards

Richards, a Chartered Accountant, has been involved in rugby league in both team management and governance roles. Managing the NZ 18s in 2015 and the Kiwi Ferns since 2016, she is also the Vodafone Warriors Academy and Development Manager. In addition to three years as the Treasurer of the Ponsonby United Rugby League club and three years on the Executive Committee for the National Māori Accountant Network, Richards has been actively involved with development and delivery of governance training programmes in her role in a professional services firm.

Jennifer Rolfe

Jennifer Rolfe is an experienced senior marketing executive, having worked with many of New Zealand’s top companies and brands. She is currently managing director of a multi-national advertising company, The Brand Agency. Alongside this, she is is a director of Dunedin Venues Limited (which runs assets, including the Forsyth Barr Stadium) and she also serves on the board of the Cancer Society’s commercial arm, Daffodil Enterprises. Jennifer is a former general manager of Saatchi and Saatchi, and is highly experienced in brand leadership, both locally and internationally. She has commercial and strategic skills, with particular expertise in digital and direct services.
